Debut Season: 2023, A Year in Review

The debut season for Pale Fox Esports has drawn to a close, with plenty of highs and lows to look back on! The org’s first roster was signed in the summer and they competed in the final three months of the 2023 BSC season, a community Club League roster was launched, and the groundwork was set for a successful 2024!

With Buzko, Rayes, and oNLy signed as the first roster and LeokiNeoki as the team’s manager, Pale Fox Esports were set to make their debut in competition. The team made a bright start in the ESL Weekly Series as they won four events back-to-back in June and July and made it to the playoff stage of the tournament. A solid win in the semi-final put the team into the grand final, but ultimately they missed out to Reverso Gaming who took the crown.

The big focus of the year with the first roster was the Brawl Stars Championship Season. While a place at the top table in the European region was always going to be a tough ask after competing in just three of the qualifying events which were left in the year, in esports, almost anything is possible!

Alongside the professional roster, a community-level Club League roster was launched too. The Club League brings together players from across Europe and beyond to play in a semi-competitive environment in 8 team leagues with events taking place every two weeks. The Pale Fox Esports roster started out in the bottom division and won every division right the way through to the top leagues. The aim of the Club League roster isn’t focused on winning, but building community and from this point of view, the project has been a roaring success!

At the end of July, Pale Fox Esports announced the creation of an all-female roster, known as the PFE Academy. The academy program was set up to give more female players the opportunity to compete, provide a pathway into the professional game, and also help challenge perceptions present in some corners of the esports community.

Meanwhile, as the last act of the 2023 season, the brand new Pale Fox Esports jersey was revealed which will be sold alongside a range of team merchandise.

Speaking about the organisation’s progress in its first year in competition, Pale Fox Esports’ Dragonfly said: “We knew that coming into things with only three months left would be a good way to blood us and give us a fair taste of things. What we didn’t expect so early in the journey was some of the success that we had. Obviously, we hoped for some, but we got plenty more than we thought we would so early and it’s put us in a good position for next season!

“We have a three-year plan to hit our current goal, and this was a great start to getting on with it. Coming within a single match of making a BSC Monthly Final and also finishing as a runner-up in the ESL Series were two particular highlights of the season for me – we were at HQ watching on and they’re good memories.

“Where we want to be next year is a clear goal – we need to be at the Tier A level and that means everything we do needs to step up. We have a real project on our hands to build things over the off-season. Lots of little things are going to contribute to the step up, yes from a playing point of view, but also everything in the background that helps support the org too!”
