PFE Solid 11th Place in ESL Open

The snappily named ‘ESL Snapdragon Mobile Open Brawl Stars Season 4 Split 1 Europe & MENA’ has drawn to an end, and Pale Fox Esports secured a respectable 11th-place finish. The tournament, divided into six weeks of competition, known as cups, brought together teams from right across the region to do battle for the title.

The first cup of the split saw Pale Fox Esports earn 2-0 wins against NoHelp and BaP, as well as an auto-win in a bye round, before falling to Team Queso in the fourth round. The second cup was a tougher affair, with Pale Fox Esports falling in the second round to F/A Kebap after a round one bye. Cup three was similar, with a fall in the third round to Noway after a bye-round win and a 2-0 victory over Kamble.

The halfway stage of the split had Pale Fox Esports in 11th place, a position the team maintained over the final three cups. Defeats against SK Gaming and The Beatles in the third round in later cups meant hopes of breaking into the top eight were scuppered.

The final standings for the event’s top 16 teams were:

1st – Totem Esports – 380 points
2nd – Team Queso – 355 points
3rd – ZETA Division – 330 points
4th – Nouns Esports – 300 points
5th – FUT Esports – 250 points
6th – SK Gaming – 245 points
7th – OneTrickPonies – 215 points
8th – VN Esporting – 175 points
9th – Kebap – 140 points
10th – VitaNavitas – 130 points
11th – Pale Fox Esports – 125 points
12th – Safe – 125 points
13th – Noway – 115 points
14th – NAVI Natus Vincere – 105 points
15th – HMBLE – 105 points
16th – AO Instinct – 90 points

Speaking about the split, Pale Fox Esports’ Dragonfly said: “Looking back, I’m actually pretty happy with how the split went overall. We’re a bit disappointed that we didn’t take some of the opportunities we had in some of the cups to inch that bit higher up the table, but there are some of Europe and the world’s best teams competing against us. 11th is a solid platform to build on.

“The vast majority of the teams above us are either already qualified for the 2023 World Championship or qualified for the Last Chance Qualifiers to get to worlds. We’re in good company and also comfortably inside the top 16 teams. I would have probably taken 11th if I had been offered it before the split started, so I’m happy in the end.

“We’re building lots behind the scenes and so we know this is a big stepping stone. We’re hoping to keep pushing up the tables over the next few splits and really start to make an impact. It’s not going to be easy, but that’s esports. If we can keep progressing and keep getting stronger then things will really start to come together!”
