PFE Take Scalps But Fall Short of Finals

Pale Fox Esports put on an impressive performance in the latest BSC Monthly Qualifiers, knocking out both FUT Esports and F/A Kebap before a narrow 2-1 defeat to SK Gaming in a win-and-in decider.

A rocky start to the 2024 season had seen the team struggle in early tournaments, but this weekend’s run is being seen as another step in the right direction. The brilliant effort saw the only two defeats across the weekend coming against reigning world Champions ZETA Division and one of Europe’s top-ranked teams, SK Gaming.

A win in either of the matches against ZETA Division or SK Gaming would have seen Pale Fox Esports qualify for the May Monthly Finals, reaching a stage in the competition no PFE team has before. However, it was not to be as ZETA Division showed why they are one of the world’s best and SK Gaming continued their impressive season.

While the team didn’t reach the Monthly Finals, twice being a match away from them, the tournament saw them take the scalps of two major European teams, including a world championship contender last year out in FUT Esports. The lower bracket run after the ZETA Division defeat is widely seen as one of the most difficult brackets that could have presented itself.

Speaking about the team’s performance, Pale Fox Esports Manager, Soufi said: “The May Monthly Qualifiers were a crazy experience for us and the entire esports scene. Lots of drama and controversy is still ongoing, [but for] PFE I believe the players played insanely against all teams they faced despite having one of the hardest lower brackets I’ve seen in four years of this game.

“In the last month, we’ve improved a lot as a team in terms of synergy, gameplay, and drafts, which makes me and the players really proud of what we’re doing and how we’re doing it. I believe that in the next months, we’re going to continue to improve and be closer to what we’ve wanted to achieve since the start of the year.

“[On] this month’s qualifiers again, I firmly believe we deserved a lot more than what we’ve got, but it doesn’t always go as we want, [but] we will improve to reach our goal. We haven’t been gifted anything so we will take what’s ours by ourselves.”
