Runner-Up Finish in DC Finals

Pale Fox Esports finished as runners-up in the YxDC Seasonal League having gone on an unbeaten run stretching six matches before finally falling to defeat in the grand final.

The team qualified for the knockout stage of the tournament having topped the table of their qualifying group and went into the finals alongside 15 other teams who had also either won their group or finished in second place. The qualifying stage had seen Pale Fox Esports sweep aside AO Instinct, TeMaTi, and Penelope with comfortable 2-0 victories.

Also qualifying for the tournament’s knockout final stage alongside the Pale Fox Esports team were: CAC, It’s Not Ping, Genius Sqeak, Packin, SRM, Wild West, F/A Mamoebel, Kebap, Eclipsar Academy, NARCIS, VN Esporting, Pizza, AO Instinct, and Pingou Supreme,

Round one of the finals paired Pale Fox Esports up against a renamed InsertNameHere team, but the opposition was disqualified and awarded an 0-2 automatic loss. From there, sixth seeds Pizza lay in wait, but a strong performance kept the PFE win streak running. In the semi-final stage, it was Pale Fox Esports v CAC, and the team secured another well-earned 2-0 victory to set up a grand final against Kebap.

For their part, Kebap had won through to the final with their own unbeaten run in qualifying and in rounds one, two, and three in the grand finals. Their run included an impressive 2-0 win over VN Esporting, a team who ended up finishing 3rd having won the 3rd/4th place playoff match. The grand final was a tough game, but Kebap won out with a 3-0 win in the best-of-five series.

Speaking about the tournament and the runners-up achievement, Pale Fox Esports’ Dragonfly said: “The guys were great in the qualifying stages having gone unbeaten, and to carry on that record until the final there was really good to see. Things feel pretty positive around the place at the moment and that’s a great feeling. We’ve got to keep this going.

“The off-season is the same for everyone – it’s a time when we’re all figuring out rosters and playstyles, and Supercell has thrown us a curveball with hypercharges coming into the game too. We’re looking to be in a good place though and it’s coming bit by bit. We can’t ever complain when we’re adding something to the honours board.

“Kebap are a good side – we’ve come up against their players a few times now and it’s always a tough match. They’re good players and they’ve done well there in the final against us too. Runners-up is usually something never to be sniffed at though and it was a nice chunk of prize money for the players too. We just need to keep it up from here!”
